Position: Company apprentice
Jennifer Brehmer is an aspiring dancer, choreographer and instructor from the Metropolitan Detroit area. She received her BFA in Dance Performance, graduating Magna Cum Laude from Marygrove College in May 2015. During her years at Marygrove, she was the recipient of both an academic and talent scholarship and in her senior year, she received the Outstanding Dance Student Award. She was also a part of the Marygrove College Dance Company for four consecutive years. Jennifer is also a member of the elite National Dance Honor Society, Nu Delta Alpha. While receiving her undergraduate, Jenn would become a founding member of ConteXture dance Detroit. During her years with the company, she had the opportunity to perform at multiple venues as a featured dancer. She is trained in dance styles such as: modern, contemporary, lyrical, jazz, ballet, pointe and tap. During her pre-professional and professional career, Ms. Brehmer has worked with acclaimed choreographers such as Kevin Iega Jeff, Kiki Lucas, Jordeen Ivanov-Ericson, Tracy Halloran-Pearson, Teresa Muller, Dante' Henderson and Zandria Lucas. She has also danced in adjudicated pieces at the American College Dance Association (ACDA) in 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 with Marygrove College. Jennifer also attended a summer dance intensive at Pointe Park University (2013) on talent scholarship. In 2015, she performed in the premiere of Nascent Transformation at the Detroit Institute of the Arts, choreographed by Tracy Halloran-Pearson, Kresge Fellowship Winner and founder of ConteXture dance Detroit. In 2015, Jennifer had the privilege of having her own choreographic work; The Release adjudicated at ACDA. During this time, she also choreographed an original work titled, Turning Page, for Arts Academy in the Woods, a local performing arts high school, in which the piece was selected to perform at the Michigan Youth Arts Festival. Upon graduation, Ms. Brehmer has performed at a multitude of dance venues such as, The Detroit Dance Race, MC3, Brighton Dance Festival, The Detroit Dance Festival and many more. Most recently, Jennifer has become an Apprentice for Pure Existence Dance Company, under the direction of, Artistic Director, Jodie Randolph. When she is not performing, Jennifer is sharing her passion by teaching and choreographing for elite competition dance studios in the Metro-Detroit area.
